Review: Nobu Hotel Roma

On Nov. 8, 2025, the doors of Nobu Hotel Roma swung open to welcome guests to Rome’s newest five-star hotel. Located in the city’s effortlessly chic Ludovisi neighborhood on the famed Via Veneto, the 117-room hotel is also home to one of the most sought-after restaurants in the world.

If your client wants to go beyond ticking the bucket list of seeing Rome and its iconic sights, suggest they become one of the first to rest their heads at Nobu Hotel Roma.

A Warm Welcome

As someone who has stayed in dozens of Italian hotels during my 50-plus visits to the country, something that stood out immediately at Nobu Hotel Roma was the greeting upon arrival. The Nobu brand is rooted in Japanese hospitality, and that level of detail matched with the warmth of Italian culture made an incredibly lovely blend. I was handed a warm towel upon check-in and met with pleasant conversation from the friendly front desk and concierge.

The artwork and design in the lobby, which was done by the Rockwell Group, is minimalist yet thoughtful. The vibe isn’t in-your-face flashy, but more so subtly sophisticated. The minimalism is matched by the exterior design of the hotel, which is located on the corner of Via Veneto and Via Sicilia with a contemporary sign featuring block letter-font to let guests know they're at the right place.

Dining Front and Center

As a new property, Nobu Hotel Roma still has a few kinks to work out. The spa is still under renovation, with a plan to open sometime in 2026. I did, however, get a sneak peek of a striking marble pool underway that will inevitably be a perk once it’s up and running.

However, the main draw of Nobu Hotel Roma is the dining, which comes as no surprise, considering chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s track record as one of the most prominent celebrity chefs of our time. You don’t have to be a guest of the hotel to dine at Nobu, but priority reservations are given to those spending the night.

I joined a friend for dinner at Nobu Roma during my stay, and we ordered the works. The infamous black cod miso is Nobu’s staple entree, and it is an umami fall-apart dish that is simply a must. I was also impressed by the wine list, which featured some local vino from the Lazio region, such as selections from Omina Romana, a nearby family-run vineyard.

Aside from dinner, I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfasts at Nobu Restaurant. The service was top-tier and attentive, offering what can best be described as an individual buffet, where guests are served a spread of cheese, charcuterie, bread, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit and then a choice off the main menu. I went for the Matsuhisa Benedict made with crab and tofu, and that surprisingly wound up being my favorite bite of the entire stay. If clients are more interested in a local breakfast dish, encourage them to order the yuzu maritozzo.

Room service is also available and is especially ideal for those who want an Italian-forward option, with offerings such as fresh pasta with wagyu and wagyu lasagna — yet another significant way in which the brand meshes the worlds of Japan and Italy.

A Quiet Respite

Location is incredibly important when it comes to choosing your clients’ sleeping pad, and Ludovisi hits the sweet spot for those who love the city but don’t want the noise. The neighborhood is sleepy; in fact, it might be too sleepy for those who are looking for action, as it’s rare to find anything open other than hotel bars. However, Nobu Hotel Roma is just a 15-minute walk to the iconic Trevi Fountain and conveniently located close (less than 10 minutes by car) to Rome Termini, the city’s main train station.

Roman ruins can be found just down the street, allowing clients to feel like they’re walking through a movie set — without the herds of crowds that would come from more popular ruins in the city. To tick off some of those top Rome sights, the concierge offers 24-hour service and can help guests with tour and ticket assistance, along with exclusive behind-the-scenes access.

Pro tip: If your clients are looking for a real luxe Rome experience, book them in the highest-level room offered, the Nobu Villa, which combines three suites on the sixth floor.
